Position Description:

Drive processes and technology improvement initiatives for the products, using standard project methodology (requirements, design, test, etc.). Use data to identify trends, patterns and opportunities for the business and clients. Engage users in analysis and evaluation of functional models and prototypes; identify dependencies and priorities. Evaluate technology applications for use by the user community. Produce, publish and distribute scheduled and ad-hoc client and operational reports relating to the development and performance of products.

Primary Responsibilities:

State of RI Executive Office of Health and Humans Services (EOHHS) is an innovative regulatory body that often develops programs which require new processes or process changes and that have aggressive implementation timelines. In order to remain competitive, the RI Plan must implement these initiatives effectively and within prescribed deadlines/timelines and must ensure that programs continually meet contractual requirements and objectives.

The C&S RI Business Analyst will be responsible for timely, relevant and accurate reporting of data and information and analyses in accordance with the requirements of the Plans Medicaid contract with RI EOHHS. The Business Analyst will be responsible to ensure that reports , data requests and analyses are delivered on time and meet /exceed EOHHS expectations. The Business Analyst will work with UHG Business Intelligence, IT and Health Plan Operations and Medical Management to standardize and automate reporting when appropriate. The Business Analyst will work with the C&S team to ensure reporting needs are appropriately represented and communicated to IT, BI and HPO to achieve reporting objectives. Responsibilities include but are not limited to reporting for all State Mandated programs including Children with Special Health Needs, Rhody Health Partners, Communities of Care, Pain Management and Health Home initiatives. The Business Analyst will also coordinate and collaborate with external constituents at the State and vendors who support the Plan's operation and delivery of programs.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree is required
  • 2 years of experience working with a managed care organization and/or related industry; i.e. pharmacy, hospital, large physician practice, etc.
  • 3 years of business analysis experience; i.e. creating and gathering accurate data requirements including standard, monthly, and annual reports as well as working on various ad hoc projects
  • 1 year of experience utilizing claim systems and large database applications; i.e. someone who has worked with a large volume of claims data or enrollment data, member information, demographic information and being able to extract that information when needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, i.e. someone who possesses the ability to communicate effectively with various levels of leadership, staff, internal and external constituents, ability to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can understand, communicating results of their work to leaders and heads of organizations
Assets:
  • Someone who possesses the ability to work within a large, complex, and highly matrixed organization
  • New graduate with an advanced degree is preferred; i.e. someone who is in or has recently completed an internship
  • Financial analysis experience is preferred
